Ser Brienne of Tarth knighted as first female knight in the Seven Kingdoms

Jaime Lannister joins the Northern forces

House Greyjoy pledges fealty to Queen Targaryen

WINTERFELL, WESTEROS – This Sunday, the battle horns of Winterfell were sounded as the Army of the Dead, led by the Night King, made contact with the outskirts of the Northern capital. Heard late in the evening and alerting the castle to the impending Battle of Winterfell, the horns notified soldiers to begin taking their appointed posts. Women, children and those unable to fight took refuge in the caste’s safest quarters: the crypts beneath the castle.

Earlier that night, Ser Brienne of Tarth was appointed as the first female knight of the Seven Kingdoms. Within the common chambers of Winterfell, Jaime Lannister – Kingslayer – invoked his appointed right to create another knight amidst a small audience, recognizing Tarth for her steadfast loyalty and unwavering commitment, duty and combat abilities. Prior to her arrival in Winterfell, Tarth served in the Kingsguard of the late Renly Baratheon – Lord of Storm’s End, Lord Paramount of the Stormlands – as well acted as the protector of the late Catelyn Stark, propelling her into her current role as protector of Sansa Stark – Lady of Winterfell.

Prior to knighting Tarth, Lannister arrived in Winterfell to join the North in an epic fight against the Night King his army of wights, having left his sister, Queen Cersei Lannister – Cersei of the House Lannister, the First of Her Name, Queen of the Andals and the First Men, Protector of the Seven Kingdoms – behind. Kingslayer was seen before Daenerys Targaryen – Daenerys Stormborn of House Targaryen, the First of Her Name, Queen of the Andals and the First Men, Protector of the Seven Kingdoms, the Mother of Dragons, the Khaleesi of the Great Grass Sea, the Unburnt, the Breaker of Chains – Jon Snow and Lady Stark to receive judgment for crimes committed. Having the blessing from Tarth and subsequently both Starks, Targaryen ultimately allowed Kingslayer to remain in Winterfell and join the North in their pending battle.

With forces from Queen Lannister remaining absent, the North’s are set to be strengthened due to the arrival of Theon Greyjoy – son of Balon Greyjoy – and a small fleet of Iron Island ships given to him by his elder sister, Yara Greyjoy. In bringing these ships, Theon reaffirmed his loyalty to Queen Targaryen, supporting the fight against the dead. Separately, Yara set sail to reclaim the Iron Islands as her uncle, Euron Greyjoy – King of the Iron Islands, King of Salt and Rock, Son of the Sea Wind, Lord Reaper of Pyke – maintains residence in King’s Landing, leaving their homeland with weakened defenses.
